Spirits scoring system

The maximum number of points that can be awarded in each category is 25, with a total of 100 points.
Taste, aroma, design and value for money are assessed.

• 

  95-100 points

  An excellent liquor with extraordinary natural balance, complexity and strength. A sample that immediately distinguishes itself from others in the category.

• 

  85-94 points

  An excellent spirit with superior balance and a unique and complex flavour. It is an example that stands out among its competitors.

• 

  75-84 points

  An excellent spirit with a well - balanced flavour, strong character and great complexity. A classic example of its category or quality.

• 

  65-74 points

  A well-made spirit that provides a very pleasant drinking experience. A good reflection of the quality of this category.

• 

  To earn the rare Consumers’ Choice platinum award, you must earn a minimum of 2x double gold awards or 3x gold awards within a single year.

• 

  To earn the rare rhodium Consumers Choice award, you must earn a minimum of 3x double gold awards or 4x gold awards in a single year.
